The thyristor power unit comprises two anti-parallel switched thyristors, the insulted cooling body and the control electronics. Thyristor power units up to a load current of 50A can be either clipped onto a 35 mm mounting rail or fitted to the wall on a mounting plate. Units larger than 75A load current have to be fitted to the wall. Depending on the position of the internal switches, the thyristor power units operate with phase control and settable current limitation, or in the burst firing mode. In the burst firing mode, the phase angle of the first half wave can be controlled to also allow the operation of transformer loads. During the control process, mains voltage fluctuations do not affect the unit to be controlled. This is ensured by the choice of a underlying U2-, I2-, P control. An input signal attenuation allows the control range to be restricted and a base load to be prescribed via an external potentiometer. The burst firing mode allows an economy circuit for a multi-phase load.
